Floors Stand Out With New Flortred Bases

Leading paint manufacturer Johnstone’s has extended its existing range of specialist floor coatings to offer architects and other specifiers an even greater choice of colours.  Now available in over 15,000 different colours through the use of Johnstone’s state of the art tinting system, the Flortred range is ideally suited to help meet various health and safety regulations and the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.

Providing even greater design flexibility, the Flortred range is now available in four new bases that have been created specifically for use with Johnstone’s 32 colorant tinting machines.  In addition to the 12 ready mixed colour options already available, the new bases and colour options enable the Flortred range to be tailored to meet the specific requirements of any project, with full technical and colour specification advice on hand from Johnstone’s Specification Development Team.

Johnstone’s Flortred is a solvent-based, semi-gloss coating for concrete, steel and wooden floors and dries to a smooth finish. Ideally suited for use on walkways, light industrial factories and warehouses, Flortred is resistant to mild chemical spillage, is extremely hard wearing and prevents dust formation.

Clare Winter, Specification Marketing Manager at SigmaKalon, comments; “It’s not just the walls of a building that can benefit from being painted. The use of paint on floors is increasingly important, not least because it can provide a safer working environment.  Paint can be used to identify pedestrian routes, vehicle access points in factories or warehouses and mark out hazards as a means of reducing the risk of accidents.”

The 12 Johnstone’s Flortred ready mixed colours already available are Black, Clear, Dark Green, Dark Grey, Morning Mist, Princess Grey, Sherwood Green, Safety Yellow, Safety Red, Safety Blue, Tile Red and White.

Johnstone’s is an official provider of Continual Professional Development for RIBA members. An approved seminar titled “The Decoration of Floor Surfaces” is available and provides information on identifying different types of substrates and advice on selecting the appropriate preparation and paint system for different flooring materials.
